The busy Christmas season is fast-approaching and there is nothing worse than falling short of certain items due to the increase in demand that you can’t fulfil.

Perhaps you’re a busy restaurant expecting the annual rush of Christmas parties, or maybe you are hosting your own Christmas party at home. Either way having to purchase a lot of equipment to use for one month of the year, to then have to store for the rest of the year isn’t really the ideal situation. It can also prove quite costly to buy in a lot of equipment brand new. This is where event hire comes in and is why it is so popular at this time of year.

If you are in the process of planning for the Christmas period, here are a few things you may want to think about.

CCG (Crockery, Cutlery, Glassware)

Being in the catering industry at Christmas, most likely means that there will be an influx of customers due to work Christmas parties or private Christmas dinners with family and friends, so it is important that you have the facilities and equipment to cater to these demands. Most nights of the week are likely to be busier than normal for restaurants, meaning the turnover of clean CCG is going to take longer than usual. Or perhaps you require specialty glassware for those seasonal, Christmas cocktails. Whatever it is you require, ensure that you order this within plenty of time, as you are probably not the only busy restaurant needing additional items.

Furniture

Like CCG, the influx of customers might mean that you need to provide additional furniture to meet the demands and be able to seat more customers than usual. This could be Banqueting Tables, Trestle Tables, Indoor Chairs or outdoor Rattan Furniture. You want to ensure that every guests’ experience is a comfortable and enjoyable one, no matter how busy it is.

Heating

It is important that the focus on guest comfort does not get lost when preparing for the busy season. With it being Winter, this obviously means that there is going to be a decrease in temperature, so make sure you’re prepared for this! A few Athena Heaters dotted around your outside area will make all the difference for your guests wanting to get a bit of fresh air and this also means they won’t feel restricted to stay inside.

Catering Equipment

Another very important factor is ensuring that you have the equipment to cater to the demands of your guests. As it is going to be busier than normal, you need to prepare for the fact that you are probably going to be cooking double the amount of meals at a time than you normally would. Don’t leave your guests waiting and hungry for their meals and ensure that you have additional catering equipment for this period such as; Ovens, Hot Cupboards, Fryers etc.

And finally…

Christmas Spirit

Catering during the Christmas period is not for the faint-hearted, which is why it is so important that you have a passion and enjoyment for what you do! As long as you are prepared well in advance, your Christmas spirit should not be dampened by the festive bustle!
